NORLEVO (Levonorgestrel)

Description

NorLevo is an oral emergency contraceptive based on synthetic progesterone (levonorgestrel). It works to prevent unplanned pregnancies by inhibiting or delaying ovulation when taken within 72 hours following unprotected sexual intercourse.

• Benefits: A single-dose emergency contraceptive pill (one tablet). Easy to take and widely available. Works best within 24 hours but effective up to 72 hours after unprotected sex.
• Contradictions: Not effective if you are already pregnant. Less effective if you weigh over 75 kg you may need a higher dose or an alternative method like a copper IUD. May cause mild side effects like nausea, dizziness, or irregular bleeding.
• Take as soon as possible! Works best within 24 hours but up to 72 hours max. Not an abortion pill—NorLevo pill prevent pregnancy before it happens.  Not for regular use—use a more reliable method like condoms, birth control pills, or an IUD for ongoing protection. If vomiting occurs within 2 hours, you may need another dose.
